Laso Serves Up Rare Blend of Experience Meet Laurie Swanson, founder and president
Laurie’s 20 years of placing top IT talent nationwide include 3-1/2 years with Search Enterprises IT recruiting division, where she became the top sales representative, and 3 years running an independent IT recruiting firm with two former Search Enterprises associates. Laurie has also worked as a programmer for User Systems, a software development firm, and has sold software for a large AS/400 developer. Laurie holds a degree in business with an emphasis in data processing from the University of Texas in Austin. Laurie opened Laso Corporation in September, 1995, with a personal and company mission of bringing clients and candidates together in timely, mutually satisfying ways. Laso offers a proven track record in a wide array of industries and IT specialties and provides a complete package of recruiting services. Count on professional support Laso provides four levels of comprehensive professional support throughout the recruiting process: Laso researchers cast the widest possible net for qualified, motivated professionals. They maintain wide networks of both active and potential candidates, establishing initial relationships that grow steadily into top quality pools of available talent. Laso recruiters constantly check the status of current openings and work to match them with ideal candidates. They take the research process a step further, digging deeply into a candidate’s background with specific client needs in mind. Laso account managers work hand-in-hand with clients, using our detailed, time-lined process to place the right candidate in the right place at the right time. Account managers help clients plan for long term development by understanding which candidate profiles and skill sets best match company goals. Laso administrators help the entire team work as efficiently as possible, updating data and managing communication for both clients and candidates. Online position and candidate postings are handled promptly and accurately.
Maria Wood, Technical Recruiter Maria grew up in both Indianapolis and Northern Kentucky. In high school, she spent her junior year in Germany, which led her to pursue German along with Psychology and Music at Emory University in Atlanta. After college, Maria moved to Chicago to attend the Illinois Professional School of Psychology, where she received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Maria worked with a private practice in Chicago for 6 years before striking out on her own in the Chicago suburbs. She focused on marriage and family counseling, along with career coaching. After multiple conversations with Laurie Swanson, Maria decided to try part-time recruiting while building her private practice. Though she had no IT background, she had strong abilities to coach people through a job search. Because recruiting has been so satisfying, Maria is now devoting the bulk of her time to it while still maintaining a private practice in Psychology. She fully enjoys the satisfaction of helping people find the position that is right for them.
